Sotiris Anastasiou has been working as an illustrator, art painter and comic artist since 1985.
In 1987 he completed his first comic book, an anti war story about the Vietnam war, entitled “Wild Winds”. It was published by a publishing company in Thessaloniki, Greece. “Wild Winds” was among the books which represented the company in the international book fair in Frankfurt, Germany.
After that he continued with comic books, having cooperation with various magazines he wrote and illustrated short stories for, mostly in black and white. He took part in two international comic art exhibitions in Thessaloniki, in 1988 and 1989 respectively.
In 1990, he participated in the Angouleme International Comics Festival in France.
In 1991, he finished his studies and started working as a teacher of English. In 1995 he held his first individual exhibition where he presented paintings depicting a wide variety of topics: Landscapes, traditional houses, portraits, human characters and military uniforms. The following years he held two more exhibitions in Greece and in 2013 he presented his works of art in Neuss, Germany.
He mostly uses watercolors and ink. His work basically focuses on human characters and facial expressions. He also finds the field of science fiction quite exciting. However, he specializes in military uniforms of any period, especially the Napoleonic wars. He considers uniforms an exciting field of study and insists on historical accuracy and realism.
